Summer in New England is prime horse show season. Most of July and August were spent photographing at USHJA competitions. The Vermont Summer Festival, Silver Oak Jumper Tournament, and Fieldstone Summer Showcase were the highlights. One of my favorite photographers to work with is Andy Ryback and his team. For me, photographing the long competition days serve as a photography bootcamp as I roll into the autumn wedding season back in California.
This summer was particularly special. I live 3000 miles away from my family, and working in New England time with so many people who I love. I found myself shifting through boxes of negatives from the 1990's. I negatives from Fieldstone Farm from 1996 - I would have been 9 years old. As a tiny human, my parents would make the hour drive down to the south shore of Massachusetts to let me photograph horse shows with my 35mm film camera. It was pretty specialI'm here, with a much better camera, taking much better photos, being all around grateful for this opportunity!
